Egg tempera painting of the nativity on vellum

Armenian Nativity (SOLD) painted in egg tempera on stretched vellum, mounted and set in a  mahogany frame with UV protective artglass. This is based on a 13th Century manuscipt, gilding in 24k gold on raised gesso. Pigments: Vermillion, lapis lazuli, azurite, caput mortuum, English red light, yellow ochre maimeri, terre verte, ivory black, titanium white. More about how this was painted here
